Fridges, freezers, washing machines and dishwashers should be clean and dry before putting into storage. Leave the door slightly open on white goods.

Furniture

FURNITURE

Put plastic covers over mattresses and couches to protect them and keep them clean. Disassemble beds and take legs off mattress bases to save storage space. Protect furniture with blankets and sheets before stacking other furniture on top.

Personal Items/Cartons

PERSONAL ITEMS / CARTONS

Use strong cartons and label each one. Cartons should be filled to the top—pack books and heavier items in smaller cartons and linen, clothes in larger cartons. Books should be packed flat. Wrap glasses, plates and fragile items in packing paper. Stack plates, bowls and platters on their edge. Mark fragile boxes and stack them on top of heavier boxes.

Pictures and Mirrors

PICTURES AND MIRRORS

Pictures and mirrors should be protected with bubble wrap or packed in picture pack cartons. These items are best stored on their edge.

Electrical Goods

ELECTRICAL GOODS

TVs, computers and stereos can be repacked in their original box if you have them. Computers and monitors can be wrapped in bubble wrap and packed in suitable quality cartons. Cartons should be filled to the top as well.

Any goods that are illegal, stolen, flammable, explosive, environmentally harmful, hazardous or perishable.
